The Vigneron ...
Meet Jim Lambert
Stanley Lambert Wines Vigneron
Jim Lambert was born on a farm in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and attended a one room country schoolhouse in his first years of school. He worked his way through college, graduating with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a year later with a Master in Structural Engineering.

Jim’s first job out of college was writing computer programs for use in analyzing and designing large commercial and government structures, such as skyscrapers and bridges. Through his expertise he worked his way up to a position as Vice President of a research and development group, which designed CAD/CAM and application software at General Electric.
Too much of a good
thing is wonderful.

In 1984 Jim, a valued co-worker, and his wife, Pam, started their own business. Over the years it has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of data storage, with offices and markets around the world, and is listed on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange. Though working in the high technology market for many years, it was always Jim’s dream to “get back to his roots” as a farm boy. His interest in wine and winemaking was a perfect match in making his dream a reality.

In 2003, Jim Lambert purchased a premium 100-acre, old-vine vineyard in the Barossa Valley, Australia. At that time, all of the fruit in that vineyard was sold to leading Barossa Valley wineries for their premium wines.

Upon meeting, he and Lindsay Stanley decided to create their own wines from that superb vineyard.

Jim made a commitment to not just grow grapes, but to develop an outstanding vineyard in the picturesque Barossa Valley that would produce fruit of the most desirable quantities. Working in conjunction with Winemaker Lindsay Stanley ensures that the winemaking process begins with the first bud of spring.

Jim’s view on drinking fine wine is defined in his quote: "Too much of a good thing is wonderful." He will also be happy to tell you about the studies done which prove the medical benefits of drinking red wine.
